Newcastle’s IPS Ceramics opens new facility in North Carolina

A COMPANY which manufactures specialist ceramic products has realised its ambitious growth plans by opening a brand new facility in America.

IPS Ceramics, based in Newcastle, has announced the formation of a US subsidiary – IPS Ceramics USA Ltd.

The firm, which relocated to a larger base at High Carr Business Park earlier this year, has had strong trading links with the U.S. since its inception – mainly with buyers of cordierite kiln furniture and technical ceramics.

But the move to establish the new base – in Cornelius, North Carolina – will allow the company to improve its service across the whole of the U.S. and prepare for growth in the Canada, Mexico and South America regions.

Sukhjinder Singh, president of the newly incorporated company and managing director of IPS Ceramics in the UK, said: “We are all very excited and proud about the establishment of IPS Ceramics USA Ltd. We have created strong links with customers right across North America but investing in a permanent base for IPS in the U.S. was the next logical step in our quest to significantly expand our business there – as well as providing for even closer customer/supplier relationships.”

The new company will be led day-to-day by company vice president Mike Jackson.

IPS sales director Phil Green said: “We announced this historic move during our participation in Ceramics Expo in Cleveland and the news was very well received.

“Mike brings with him an in-depth knowledge and experience, not only of the traditional and technical sides of the ceramic industry, but also of the different aspects of the whole U.S. market.”

And as part of its continued growth plans IPS Ceramics has also expanded its UK team with the appointments of sales manager Alan Keenan and business development manager Adam Wright.

Phil added: “With these new appointments we’ve achieved a balance of youth and experience. “We believe we can achieve much more, both here in the UK and abroad, where we have just returned from highly successful exhibitions in the USA and Germany.

“It’s been a really positive start all round in 2016.”
