Stoke on Trent based pottery giant Steelite has unveiled major expansion plans that will lead to the creation of 65 jobs.
Worldwide demand for pottery has led to the company drawing up plans to build a new manufacturing facility at it’s base in Middleport.
A Steelite spokesman said: “Following a dramatic increase in demand, and the highly successful launch of new innovative designs, we are experiencing manufacturing capacity constraints at our existing facility.
“We want to construct a new standalone facility that will have the capability of manufacturing our core products in a self-contained unit adjacent to our existing site to ensure that we create a completely flexible facility.
“The new facility will employ an extra 65 staff and will give us the capacity to continue our long tradition of being a market leader.”
Steelite currently employs over 1,000 people and turned over £94 million in 2014, the fifth year in succession that sales figures were in the ascendancy.
Jane Gratton, Deputy Chief Executive at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce said: “Steelite is going from strength to strength. This investment is brilliant news for the city and our local economy.”
